The overall process can be broken down into Milling, Assembly, Finish and Final Assembly. Furniture is made to order, and is scheduled in Production Runs – each run taking approximately 3 weeks ( 1 week in Milling, 1 in Assembly, and 1 in Finish & Final Assembly).

Milling
The Mill Room process is to cut to specification the parts needed for all the furniture assembly – for all furniture in the production run. This process consist of the following:

• Cut out defects and cut lumber to size
• Door Stiles and Rails cut to size and sanded
• Panels cut and squared to size
• Drawer parts and bottoms planed and squared to size
• Ship-lap cut to size and “lap” groove
• Table tops defected, tongue & grooved, glued, planed, squared, sanded
• Posts for legs, bed posts, turnings defected , glued, squared, sanded , turned on lath

Assembly
The Assembly process is to assemble the furniture, and to final sand in preparation for finishing. The steps in this process involve the following:

• Assemble case goods
• Drawers grooved, dove-tailed, bottoms beveled; drawers assembled
• Doors, Stiles, Rails, Panels Assembled
• Tables and Beds are milled, sanded, and assembled
• Headboards and footboards assembled
• Assemble case goods, apply moldings
• Final sanding
• Chairs are Milled and Assembled as one operation

Finishing and Final Assembly
The Finishing and Final Assembly process consist of applying the oil based finish, the final assembley of mounting hardware, glass, doors, etc. and then the hand-rubbed oil finish. These steps are as follows:

• Applying desired stain color
• Applying oil based finish
• Install glass, hinges, knobs, table tops
• Final sanding with Lemon Oil/Beeswax finish
• Branded – dated
• Placed in warehouse to await pick up by DoveTales.

Furniture is then picked up by DoveTales, blanket wrapped and delivered to the Customer.
